Round yellow-metal glass-fronted reliquary theca housing first-class ex ossibus  of the bone  relic of Saint Vïtalis of Milan. The relic is affixed to a red silk ground and identified in Latin on a typeset  S. Vitalis M.  Saint Vïtalis  Martyr . On the back. under a protective cap. the theca is secured with a seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of Raphael Tutti


Saint Vitalis of Milan (ltalian: San Vitale) was an early Christian martyr and saint married to Saint Valeria. They have been the parents of the Saints Gervasius and Protasius. According to the Tradition. when he encouraged Saint Ursicinus of Ravenna to be steadfast in his execution. Vitalis was discovered to be a Christian. Ajudge. Paulinus. ordered Vita lis to be racked and then buried alive. He is honored as the principal patron saint of the city of Ravenna. His feast is commemorated on April 28.
