Saint Mary magdalena penitent relic and document

Rare reliquary in silver-plated bronze with a glass front, containing the relic of Saint Mary Magdalene. The relic is set on a red silk background and is identified in Latin on a label as S.Mariae Magdalena Poenitentis (Saint Mary Magdalene Penitent)

"Penitent", in reference to the life of Mary Magdalene after her conversion, often represented as a figure of penance and repentance.

Mary Magdalene occupies a unique and paradoxical place in the Christian tradition, being both a figure of penance and of spiritual intimacy with Christ. Identified as Maria Magdalena , her origin from Magdala in Galilee is underlined by the Synoptic Gospels. She embodies the radical transformation by divine grace. Delivered from "seven demons" (according to Luke 8:2), she becomes one of the first and most faithful disciples of Jesus, attending his Passion, his burial and especially the theophany on Easter morning. In this sense, she deserves the patristic title of "Apostola Apostolorum" (Apostle to the Apostles), because she brings the first announcement of the Resurrection to the disciples. This complex figure, mixing repentance, fidelity and apostolic mission, remains a powerful symbol of transformative grace and the vocation to holiness.

Good used condition with its original glass.

The Garabandal apparitions refer to reported sightings of the Virgin Mary and Saint Michael the Archangel by four young girls in the small Spanish village of Garabandal between 1961 and 1965. The girls, Conchita, Jacinta, Mari Loli, and Mari Cruz,   have received messages from the Virgin Mary about the need for repentance, conversion, and prayer, as well as Saint Michael the archangel

This is an interesting relic , it has a medal with a tiny piece of the prayer book kissed by the virgin mary, a pine from the tree near the apparitions, and a small relic cross which contains a piece from the rosary touched by saint michael

The rosary with relic cross turns up very rarely and is a hard to find item, but we recently acquired one so take your chance, it may take a while before we have a new one
